As a nonprofit organization for veterans, WWP has tirelessly advocated for warriors and their families since 2003.
The board of directors enables THE DEMARO PROJECT to continue to meet the evolving needs of our growing organization as we seek to fulfill our mission to honor and empower our veterans and their families.
Kim Clark is the Founder, board chairperson, and acting Executive Director of the DeMarco Project of The DeMarco Project. She is personally committed to ensuring no other military family lives with the loss of a loved one to suicide.Her passion is serving veterans through holistic practices that enrich their lives and those of their families. With Ms. Clark at the helm, The DeMarco Project is building a bridge program to provide case management for veterans beginning before discharge. The organization's primary goal is to engage traumatized veterans in ways that will prevent suicide and self-harm. To that end, the organization is building a team of senior veterans to mentor those new to the program, collaborators for fundraising and community outreach, and volunteer staff to work. Kim has over twenty years of managed care experience specializing in appeals and grievances, fraud waste and abuse, and quality assurance. She has a vast knowledge of nutrition, energy medicine, and network marketing. Kim is also a columnist for The Detroit Native Sun, a local news publication.
Leah Thomas-Green holds a Bachelor of Arts in Black World Studies and a Master of Social Work degree. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Michigan. She currently oversees our clinical services. She is also the Board Secretary and Treasurer for The DeMarco Project. Leah works with the most challenged youth in Michigan through Community Living Services Oakland County and The Guidance Center. Leah is dedicated to assisting the families and caregivers with improving the quality of life for these troubled youth.
Joseph Guzman is an Army veteran with over 17 Years of military service. He has extensive knowledge and credentials from the US Department of Labor as an EEO and Sexual Assault counselor. He currently oversees the marketing department within the DeMarco project.
Carmencita (Carmen) Pinkney served in the United States Navy as a Religious Program Specialist. Her exemplary career spans 20 years. Carmencita served in two branches of the Military, the Navy, and the Marine Corps Reserves. After leaving the military, she worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs Benefit Administration (VA). Working for the VA afforded her the opportunity to help fellow veterans obtain service-connected benefits. She is also a Peer Support Specialist. In this role, she assists veterans living with the experience of mental health challenges, provides support, guides, and provides resources to other veterans thereby, creating positive outcomes.
Charlene is a 26-year retired Navy veteran. Charlene is the President, CTWilliams VETS Golf & Beyond LLC. She is also the Chief of Staff for Jim Beatty Golf. She has a Master of Arts in Organizational Guidance and Counseling and is a current PhD candidate.
